Eligibility checklist

  • BMI usually ≥27 with weight-related risk factors.
  • No current pregnancy or lactation.
  • No personal/family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma.
  • Stable mental health with support from GP if required.

Risk Control

Risk mitigation

  • Dose escalation plans customised to gut tolerance.
  • Hydration and electrolyte guidance to prevent dizziness.
  • Out-of-hours voicemail monitored for red flag symptoms.

Emergency escalation pathway

  1. 1. Stop the dose if you experience severe abdominal pain, allergic reaction signs or persistent vomiting.
  2. 2. Call 111 / 999 for urgent medical help. Inform them you are taking a GLP-1 medication.
  3. 3. Notify us using the emergency contact detailed in your patient pack. We will follow up with your GP if required.

We review BMI, age, current medicines, allergies, pregnancy status and previous weight-loss treatments. Some patients may need GP blood tests before starting.
Patients log appetite, nausea, hydration and mood using our tracker. Pharmacists check in every 4-6 weeks and sooner if issues are reported.
We provide written feedback and alternative strategies, such as lifestyle coaching or referral back to your GP or specialist services.
