Private Skin Service

Private Mole & Skin Checks in Glasgow

Concerned about a new or changing mole? Carmunnock Pharmacy offers an in-pharmacy skin check: a photo is taken with a professional dermatoscope and reviewed by a UK consultant dermatologist, with a report typically returned within 48 hours - no GP referral needed.

Important: This is a photo-based triage and reassurance service, not a diagnosis or emergency care. If a mole is bleeding, growing rapidly, or you are otherwise worried, seek medical attention urgently regardless of this service.

The basics

What is a pharmacy mole & skin check?

Instead of waiting for a GP appointment and a possible onward referral, you can visit Carmunnock Pharmacy directly for a private skin check. A magnified, well-lit photo of the mole or lesion is taken using a professional dermatoscope - the same type of device used in dermatology clinics.

Your image and a short clinical history are sent securely to a UK consultant dermatologist for review. They return a structured report explaining what they've seen and whether reassurance, monitoring, or a further referral is the right next step.

It's a way to get a specialist opinion quickly and privately, without needing to go through your GP first.

How it works

Three simple steps

  1. 1

    Visit the pharmacy

Come in with the mole or area of skin you're concerned about. No referral or appointment is required.

  2. 2

    Image capture

A member of the pharmacy team takes a magnified photo using a professional dermatoscope, along with a short history of the mole.

  3. 3

    Consultant dermatologist review

A UK consultant dermatologist reviews the image and returns a report - typically within 48 hours - with reassurance or a recommended next step.

Who it's for

Is this service right for you?

A new or changing mole

You've noticed a mole that's new, or one that's changed in size, shape or colour.

Family history of skin cancer

You want a periodic professional check because skin cancer runs in your family.

Can't get a timely GP appointment

You'd like a specialist opinion faster than the current GP or NHS referral wait.

General peace of mind

You'd simply like reassurance about a mole or patch of skin that's on your mind.

Safety information

What this service is - and isn't

This is a photo-based triage and reassurance service. It is not a physical examination, a biopsy, or a formal diagnosis, and it does not replace your GP or the NHS urgent skin cancer referral pathway.

If the reviewing dermatologist has any concern about your image, you will be given clear advice on next steps, which may include an urgent referral through your GP.

If a mole is bleeding, growing rapidly, or you are otherwise worried right now, contact your GP urgently or seek immediate medical attention - do not wait for this service.
